Assa Foundation’s July Activities

Dear friends and supporters,

We write in the diary of good deeds about a month when big-hearted people gave of themselves with selflessness and compassion to bring a ray of hope to the hearts of vulnerable children. Every thought we record here is a capture of moments of joy shared through sincere childlike smiles, and every written page is a moment of celebration of the achievement of human kindness. They will remind us years from now that we don’t have to be heroes to make a difference, just let ourselves be carried by the love for children and the desire to take part in their natural growth and development.

ASSA Caravan, Brașov, 6th edition

On July 18, 2024, the ASSA Foundation organized the sixth edition of the “ASSA Caravan” project in the city of Brașov.

During the event, we brought together 30 vulnerable children from two disadvantaged communities (Budila Village, Budila Commune and Cuciulata Village, Hoghiz Commune, Brașov County) and 12 children with special needs from the Catharsis Association, the “Casa Maria” family-type center Brașov” and the “All Children are Children” Association, who enjoyed many surprises together: a visit to the Brașov Zoo, a hearty meal, a demonstration of wheelchair basketball and many other recreational activities. Through play, the children had the chance to know, concretely, the difficulties and challenges that a person in a wheelchair encounters, but also about the importance of an inclusive approach.

The round table, organized in partnership with Gentiletza, met at Hotel ARO Brașov, under the aegis of “Solidarity and Sustainability = certain and necessary capital for a healthy future generation”. Several special people participated, partners and collaborators of ASSA, but also representatives of local authorities, clinics, doctors, therapists, representatives of NGOs, parents of special children, people from various beaches/fields of activity and interest who want to bring a significant change in the lives of vulnerable children. During the event, we discussed the projects and initiatives of the Assa Foundation and shared experiences and perspectives regarding the everyday problems of vulnerable children in Brașov.

Events and campaigns

In July, our good deeds partners supported us in organizing several events and campaigns dedicated to vulnerable children.

Thanks to the gift offered by Mr. Dragan Krstic, a piano that has been in his family for two generations, we managed to set up a children’s music club at NUCI Secondary School No. 1, in Ilfov county. It is an initiative that brings joy and new opportunities for children, access to music education and cultural activities often representing a dream for many rural communities.

On July 4, with the support of the benevolent people from the Palace of Parliament and the Children’s Museum, we managed to organize an unforgettable trip to Bucharest where the joy of the 16 vulnerable children from Ciuperceni commune, Teleorman county was visible. For many of the little ones, the trip represented a moment of escape from the space they were used to and a chance to recognize a different “world”, which offers many possibilities.

On July 25, 2024, we also inaugurate the first edition of the “Sensul lui Împreună” series of evenings at A46 Venue, where, together with Gentiletza, we gathered together 30 extraordinary, brave and open women to provide extremely important, educational and quality information from the knowledge and the personal experiences that helped them discover themselves, reinvent themselves and become the wonderful, strong and determined people they are today. Our first conference looked at the issue of bullying, about the pressure and anxiety that physical and verbal bullying brings to a child/teenager’s life.

We are grateful for every person who joins us in our charity campaigns, for their generosity and support. Every gesture, word, donation, every volunteer hour contributing directly to changing the lives of vulnerable children in our communities.

With gratitude,
